Socrates Dies

Today we learned quite a bit about a guy named Socrates. Hes was a Greek philosopher in Athens. He used to be a stone mason and served Honorably in the siege of Potidaea in 432 B.C. Afterwards he became a philosopher and he bases a lot of his philosophy's around his experiences. Later he was convicted of "refusing to recognize the gods recognized by the state" and of "corrupting the youth." He had very snarky remarks at the hearing like “It’s my job to be gadfly to the lazy, sluggish horse that is Athens”“I should actually be rewarded with free dinners for life”. He was later sentenced to death by hemlock. He had a chance to escape but he wanted to prove that he was loyal to Athens and drank the hemlock. This is why the painting was called the suicide of Socrates.
