Yeah more Greece
Polis: Political unit, made up of a cite and the surrounding countryside
So Greece wasn't always the greatest government, they had some trouble becoming the first democracy. The first started as an Aristocracy, meaning ruled by a small group of nobles (rich doods with lots of money), then they transformed into an Oligarchy which means a wealthy group of people who are dissatisfied with an aristocratic rule, usually led by a tyrant which is not what it means now, back then you were a tyrant if you seized control instead of slowly gaining control. Politics were kinda like a clubhouse, they have a bunch of rules, like no women, or middle class, or slaves. Hoplites were well-armed soldiers. But the politics slowly changed, all Athenians became equal, but death was a reasonable punishment was pretty much the go-to punishment, and debt slavery is cool and not illegal.
