Egyptians have lived in farming villages for as far back as 5000 B.C. But, by 3200 B.C. the villages of Egypt were under the rule of two separate kingdoms. Then they were united by King Narmer, also Narmer made a double crown. Both lower and upper Egypt were connected by a river, the Nile was the lifeblood of Egypt. It flooded once a year and it left silt so people could farm. But if it overflooded it would destroy houses and granaries. And if it under flooded Egyptians would not yield as many crops not being able to feed the village. They also invented their own form of writing, known as hieroglyphs, they were little symbols that mean things. They also invented a calendar, that had 365 days in a year, 12 months per year, 30 days per month. The pharaohs ruled as god and the people thought that all that happened were because of the pharaoh.
